The Critics Ratings
Ever since I have been cooking Paleo (almost 2 years now) my husband and the kids have been rating my meals. It might seem strange (or insulting) but how they started doing this was mainly because the meals looked so beautiful and colorful and were so tasty and good. Now there is always a competition on which meal is going to be number 1. We definitely don’t always agree on the ratings which makes this fun and interesting.
The rating scale is 1-5. 5 being the most amazing and can’t wait to make again, 3 being good and will definitely add to the list of meals to make again and 1 being probably not going to make again (at least for some members of the family).
The husband, Chris
Chris loves good food. Before I moved in with him and was living with my girlfriends our kitchen cupboards were full of LOW-FAT everything. Once I moved in with Chris I had to get over that fast (which was a blessing in disguise). Chris has been so great through this transition and is always offering up suggestions on how to improve a recipe; I don’t always take those suggestions with a smile but for the most part they are heard and appreciated. There isn’t much Chris doesn’t like. These are a few of his dislikes: cinnamon, nutmeg & fennel spices, dried fruit, energy balls (I will find one he likes one day – my mission), beets, butternut squash, sauerkraut (hopefully will convert him one day), eating dinner for breakfast.
Ever since Samara was a baby she has been very open to trying new foods and lucky for me she continues to be this way. She is open to trying my experimental recipes and gives her honest opinion. There isn’t too much Samara doesn’t like. Samara’s dislikes: spicy foods
Ever since Kesler was a baby he has been a bit pickier compared to Samara. I was very adamant that his pickier side was not going to win so I have been very persistent over the years and overall he is a very good eater. He has definitely dug his heals in on a few food items which is OK. I continue to put them on his plate and wait for the day that he changes his mind on them but for now these are his dislikes: potatoes, sweet potatoes, yams, butternut squash, cooked apples – definitely a texture thing for him, spicy foods and anything from the dehydrator (for now …)
I love food. I love preparing delicious food and sitting with my family while we all enjoy it. It gives me great pleasure knowing that my family is getting all the nutrients we need to stay strong and healthy through the foods I prepare. My palate has changed so much over the years. There isn’t really anything I can say I really dislike as I am very open to trying all foods.
